- LAND RESOURCE USE -

FPL plans to use 7,000 acre for their coal-operated power plant. It will also house their coal piles and their ash disposal plant. A mountain of pulverized coal and ash waiting to get eroded on rainy season going to where??? How about the gypsum waste, etc, materials from scrubbers? They called it the slurry . Coal has tons of toxic chemicals from mercury, to arsenic, etc. All of these chemicals will be on the slurry -which is made up of fine particles of coal washings. This will be dumped on a pond dug up from the ground. These contaminants will be on bare grounds, goes to our water supply, crops, canals, rivers and estuaries, to the fish and then to our table. Here's a typical cycle.
